The Day of Rest (no reference to G_D)

Hi all,
Here I am at day -1 (we count funny here, minus days till transplant day which is day 0, then on from there). This is called the day of rest...no more Chemo, and preparation for tomorrow. I have a little less energy, but no real problems as yet. (Will not be mentioning personal functions ever again after much poor feedback, especially from women.) Only "inconvenience" is that I am now permanently attached to my girl Daisy May Pole 24/7 to receive stuff called pro-graft that helps with rejection issues. But we went for our usual 1 mile walk together last night, and I must admit she has a great set of "wheels"!
I forgot to mention a couple of days ago a cute anecdote: I got a visit from a Rabbi, who brought in a little bag of Challah rolls and Kosher Grape Juice for the sabbath. Cookie and I said the two appropriate prayers that night for Shabat, and it was very warm and fuzzy. Can't cover too many bases on the prayer front, right? It got me wondering if, after the transplant, I will qualify to be called a "born again Jew"?
Speaking of tomorrow, I still know nothing about my donor. We had a few laughs when one nurse told me it is possible, if not same sex, to transfer over those chromosones in the new blood. If I start exhibiting my more sensitive side, and yearn to cook like Rich, and shop like Cookie, you will all understand, I trust.
Someone else mentioned that tomorrow will be a new Birthday for me, which I guess makes a lot of sense. Not good planning to have 2 birthdays in the same month, but oh well.. Since we are all communicating on computers, I decided I would liken it to having my hard drive replaced! Hope I get rid of things on the prior drive I could never erase. Bet some of you hope for the same.
I guess that's all my rambling for now. Loving hearing from you all, it puts laughter and joy in my heart. Love to you all!

Mike

Mikey,

Glad to hear things are still going well and I will be thinking of you tomorrow (day 0). I was thinking maybe your donor might have some athletic ability and if you can suddenly dunk the ball, you'll know.

Good luck and speak to you soon..........

Hi MC,
MW said, "When I left the hospital today, the man with the 6 pack was still there, laying against the building. I guess they won't drag him in until tomorrow." So, I'll know if you start drinking beer instead of absolut. What a waste! Who could be more fun to drink with than you. Take care,
Lanabelle

Mike,
Glad to hear all is going well. Maybe the doner is a scratch golfer who hits it 290 right down the middle. Wouldn't that be nice to get some of that in ya.

A Irish toast to you;

There are good ships,
and there are wood ships,
The ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships, are friendships,
And may they always be.

See you soon!
Love,

Hi Mikey,
So glad you will finally be intouch with your "femaine side", I'm sure Cookie has been waiting for years:) O.K. now, how about the Bears??? They not only have a quarterback, but they did very well in the draft too! Can't wait for the season. Mike & Mike talked about it this morning. Sorry you TX fans, you are SOL. Once a Chgo. fan, always a Chgo fan.
Great Bulls game yesterday. Hope they can win again. If you have to be holed up, this is a good sports time. I know you are not inot Nascar, but the race was amazing. My guy, Jeff Gordon, got taken out in the 8th. lap. What an ending. Fans got minor injuries after the ending to the finish line. Well, maybe now you will be forced to watch Nascar if no other sports are on T.V. :) I'm still trying to convert you. Even Jewish girls can love fast cars, and cute drivers.
Love,
Bonnie B.

Sorry, should proof-read before I post. Mis-

Hi Mike,
Well, it sounds as if you'll be leaving the hospital as a born again, driving 300yds down the middle, being able to go up for the dunk, cooking up a storm and loving to shop. And, most importantly you'll have a perfectly new and healthy hard drive. It doesn't get much better. Good luck tomorrow...always thinking of you....
Love,
Sandi

Hey Pal,
I smell a rat in your latest posting. Think I don't see through what you're trying to pull off here? When you get outta there, I don't give a damn if you can whip up a veal scallopini to die for at a moment's notice....or how great a deal you can snag at Nordstom's Rack....you ain't ever gonna be hittin from the red tees ... so just fugetta bout it!!!

Michael,
You will probably read this in the morning. I want you to know that we'll be with you in spirit every moment of this. I will be in conference at 6 AM PST and please know that I will be thinking of you.
With the freight train of love pushing you right now, it will most certainly be a success. G_D does listen to our prayers.
BTW, I am looking forward to taking you to a chick flick and watching you weep in the event that the chromosones from a female donor do overtake you. So much for the 300 yd. drives in that event, but from my side, I'll be thrilled with the Mike I know and love.

PS. I really felt like getting goofy (maybe it was my transfusions years ago) when I realized this was going to be an "anonymous" post but enough of "Mr. Bad Example" for now, eh? LOL luv' ya'

Hi Mike-
Let's just hope for improving your long game and dunk-a-bility- because otherwise... does it mean that you could go through menopause? Whoever your donor is; they are an angel to all of us! Good luck tomorrow!

Ha Mike , this is my first participation on a blog. I never knew you were such a creative writer. Great music on this thing by the way. Speaking of music , there is a fairly good chance that your donor has a better singing voice than you . This could be an exciting improvement for you and all your friends who have sung with you. Maybe you will be able to keep up with Marc & yours truly. The scratch golfer thing would be cool , but I think you could be there anyway with more practice time. The whole Minneasota gang sends their love & best wishes . Hope you have an easy day tomorrow. Love ya , Dennis & Vicki

Hey Mike: My dad has been keeping me updated on everything. I just read your blog entries for the first time and think it's incredible how well you've been able to communicate your experience. We'll be rooting you on tomomorrow. Hope to hike the mountains of Crested Butte with you and the family again soon!

Hi mikey,
Well, today's the day. Our thoughts and prayers are with you every minute. I can't wait to sing a duet with you. How about "How much is that doggie in the window"? Then we can have a drink. I'll probably need one. Be well and know that you're loved!

Hey Uncle Mikey, I hope you still like our candy and don't become a health freak. Good Luck with this next step and can't wait to get back to a good argument. I love you, Bonnie
